Staying safe during New Year’s Eve

Not only will there be plenty of fireworks going off New Year’s Eve, there will be plenty of parties happening to ring in the start of 2022.

The Gulfport Police Department is encouraging everyone to celebrate safely. The department and other local law enforcement agencies will be ramping up their presence all across the Gulf Coast during the New Year’s Eve holiday. Gulfport PD Sgt. Jason Ducre said, “If you’re going to celebrate, celebrate safely. Have a back up plan. Have a designated driver. Don’t get behind the wheel. If you feel different, even if you’ve had just a little, if you feel different, you drive different. Make sure to play it smart. We want everyone to have a good time and celebrate safely.”

Sgt. Ducre also encourages people to take advantage of ride-sharing services.
