Statewide COVID-19 numbers to date: 259 new cases and eight new deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 259 new cases of COVID-19 in the state and eight new deaths.

The state total now stands at 5,153 and 201 deaths.

Here is an updated list of cases by county in our area:

• Hancock County has 55 cases and five deaths.
• Harrison County has 152 cases and six deaths.
• Stone County has 22 cases and no deaths.
• Jackson County has 228 cases and six deaths.
• Pearl River County now has 142 cases and 11 deaths.

Meanwhile, Hinds County still has the most cases in the state at 383.
