State to participate in federal program designed to strengthen foster care
JACKSON, Miss. (WXXV)- Governor Tate Reeves says Mississippi will participate in a Trump administration pilot initiative designed to help kids in foster care.
The ‘A Home for Every Child’ initiative will work to expand the number of available foster homes and strengthen ways to prevent family separation in the state as well as recruit new foster parents.
This nationwide program was created through a recent executive order by the president.
In a statement, Governor Reeves said in part that he hopes participating in this program will help strengthen Mississippi’s child welfare system and make it more responsive to the needs of foster children.
