State Senior Olympics Preparation in Biloxi

Pickleball practice is in full swing in Biloxi in preparation for the state Senior Olympics in May. One hundred and twenty nine players on the Coast participated in the games last year. Many are preparing at the Donal Snyder Community Center.
Last weekend the Biloxi Senior Pickleball Program hosted a tournament at the A.J. Holloway Sports Complex. Even though they do keep score and aim high for the state Olympics, players focus on having fun and building friendships.
Pickleball player Francis Battaile said, “I was working out a few years on the second floor and this game started so I came down to see what it was all about and joined up with it and it is a lot of fun, a lot of fun, very nice people, and I really like it.”
Pickleball player Bud Mevers said, “It’s a lot of fun. You get a lot of laughs from little mistakes or whatever, you know.”
Those interested in the program or future tournaments can call the parks and recreation department at 228-233-8766.
