State Senator Chris McDaniel announces run for Mississippi Lt. Governor

Incumbent Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann will face another primary challenger this year in his bid for a second term.

Republican State Senator Chris McDaniel announced he’s running for the state’s second highest office.

He was in Biloxi tonight, addressing supporters at the Biloxi Visitors Center.

The Jones County native has made two runs for statewide office in the past, including a GOP primary run against U.S. Senator Thad Cochran in 2014 and the 2018 Senate special election for that same seat.

McDaniel spoke to News 25 about several topics that he believes should change as he hopes to influence Mississippi with a conservative mindset. “I think, initially, the income tax elimination is a really big deal for prosperity in this state. Another is the woke culture that has indoctrinated our schools and universities. We also need term limits in our state.”

McDaniel is facing off in the primaries against Lt. Governor Hosemann, Shane Quick, and Tiffany Longino.
