State Senate fails to override vetoes
JACKSON, Miss. (WXXV)- The 2026 legislative session ended on a surprising note. Initially lawmakers passed a budget, approved spending bills, and enacted new laws.
Legislators were called back to Jackson to deal with some of Governor Tate Reeves’ vetoes.
In the end, the House took action to override the vetoes, but the effort fell apart in the Senate.
WXXV News 25’s Dave Elliot talked to State Senator Mike Thompson about what happened.
