State reports new one-day high of reported COVID cases
The Mississippi Department of Health reported that there were 6,592 cases of COVID reported on Tuesday, the highest single-day total since the pandemic began.
There were 11 deaths also reported in the state. None were in the six South Mississippi counties.
With children returning to school this week, the numbers could continue to climb, doctors in the state have said.
People who have symptoms are experiencing waits to get tested and no self-test kits available at local stores.
