State fentanyl strike force makes major bust
Attorney General Lynn Fitch says a statewide law enforcement operation targeting drugs and illegal activity has led to dozens of arrests.
‘Operation Check Mate’ was led by the state’s fentanyl strike force.
It resulted in 20 felony arrests, ten misdemeanor arrests, and one DUI, mainly centered around the Meridian area.
Large amounts of marijuana, methamphetamine, MDMA pills, crack cocaine, and suspected fentanyl powder were recovered.
Investigators say they also recovered more than $7,000 in suspected illegal proceeds and 40 illegal gambling devices.
The strike force was created in 2023 as part of the attorney general’s ‘one pill can kill’ campaign aimed at combating fentanyl in Mississippi.
