State Department of Public Safety warning of scam for outstanding fines

The Department of Public Safety is warning of a scam alert going around pretending to be the Mississippi Department of Motor Vehicles.

The text claims an automated system has identified an outstanding traffic citation associated with a record.

If you get a text asking you to pay a fine through a link, know it is a scam. Do not click on a link sent through text.

The Department of Public Safety would never ask for you to pay fines via text.
