State Appeals Initiative 42
The Mississippi Legislature is appealing a decision from a Hinds County Judge requiring the state to change the wording of Initiative 42.
Initiative 42 is citizen sponsored and seeks to require the state to fully fund M-A-E-P.
On April 2nd, a Hinds County Judge ruled in favor of a lawsuit arguing the language put on the ballot may sway voters.
The judge ruled the language must be changed by November’s election.
The state is arguing the Hinds County Circuit Court over stepped its constitutional authority in going against the actions of the Office of the Attorney General.
