St. Thomas the Apostle Church holding hurricane relief drive

St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Long Beach jumped right to action opening their doors to those in need after Hurricane Ida.

The church set up a donation center under the pavilion outside the church for members in the community to drop off donations. The donation center will be set up until Thursday, September 16th.

The church will be accepting water, cleaning supplies, paper products, and non-perishable food items. They will not be accepting clothes or shoes. St. Thomas Church Parishioner Rodney Sandoz said, “After Katrina, we learned we couldn’t do it on our own. We got a lot of help from everybody all over the world during Katrina and now it is our chance to give it back. We did the same thing with the hurricanes in Lake Charles. We loaded up a truck and went down with supplies there helping out the parish we know down there. We are going to do it again for the victims of Ida.”

Relief supplies will be delivered to Louisiana communities as soon as the truck trailer is filled.
