St. Stanislaus tandem doubles down: Favre, Payne sign with Northeast MS CC

The Magnolia State’s best passing tandem will be staying together for at least another two years.

This morning, St. Stanislaus teammates Max Favre and Dallas Payne signed their national letters of intent with Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Favre, the quarterback, was one of just ten Mississippi quarterbacks to throw for more than 3,000 yards and led all of Mississippi with more than 280 yards per game.

Payne, the man with the swagged out suit, just so happened to be Favre’s favorite target, hauling in more than 1,200 yards receiving, good for second best in the state.

Seeing as this Rock-A-Chaw duo hooked up for 17 of Favre’s 39 touchdown passes, chemistry shouldn’t be too much of a problem once they get to Booneville. Favre said, “We know we can do a lot. We always, we kind of joked about linking up in college and it actually happened now. So we should do something up there.”

Payne said, “I think what works for us is we have a good connection off the field, so we trust each other on and off the field so on the field it just rolls over like I can trust Dallas to go make this play and if it doesn’t work out we’re not going to beat each other up about it. We’re going to go to the next play, talk about what we did wrong and what happened and then fix it. That’s what we do best. Today a Rock-a-Chaw, tomorrow a tiger. Let’s go get it and go grind.”

Altogether Favre and Payne connected 85 times through the air last season, good for tops in the entire state.

Payne will also be playing basketball at Northeast.
