St. Stanislaus football sending four student-athletes to the next level

At St. Stanislaus, the Rock-a-Chaws sending a quartet of football standouts to the next level and all four student-athletes played a big role in SSC’s first playoff win since 2017.

Starting with QB1, Hudson Osborne signed with Northeast Mississippi, alongside a pair heading to Mississippi Gulf Coast, Fulton Ascherl and former News 25 Student Athlete of the Week Chandler Chapman, who broke the single-season school record for rushing yards as a senior.

Finally, hailing from Germany, Division I bound Ilias Rida makes it official with Southeastern Louisiana. Rida said, “A year ago I was in Germany, and I never thought that I would have the opportunity to play one day at a college, at Southeastern Louisiana. It’s my dream.”

Osborne said, “St. Stanislaus has been great. Since the moment I stepped on campus, everyone has been very welcoming, and very pleased to get a first playoff win in five years here. It’s a great accomplishment. Going JUCO, it’s a stepping stone to the next level. But I’m very excited for the opportunity.”

Ascherl said, “Just the fact of there’s a culture there, and the amount of kids they send Division I, like Hudson said earlier, JUCO is a stepping stone and I think that’s the best place for me as an offensive lineman to go. Coach Wright has been texting me since day one, we’re getting another ring this year, so we’re excited to be part of that.”

Chapman said, “Starting with this season, I accomplished all my goals to get where I am, so I’m just excited to play at the next level, and yeah, I feel like I can do the same thing that I did here, over there.”

The Rocks finished with an overall record of 7-5 last season.
