St. Rose de Lima Blues and BBQ festival in Bay St. Louis
Barbecue and blues filled the air down in Bay St. Louis over the weekend.
St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church held its 97th annual blues and BBQ fest. It’s a major fundraiser hosted each year, bringing Hancock County residents together for fun.
30 craft and food vendors were camped out along the Historic Depot Grounds for people to shop and browse. Along with the tasty barbeque, church members served fried catfish and shrimp, chicken, and burgers, cole slaw, and other delicious plates.
Volunteer Maurice Singleton says the festival is a great way to connect with parishioners and friends. “You know what? The favorite part is getting together with long-term church members. I’ve been a member of St. Rose, I was baptized in this parish a long, long time ago. So, I’ve been affiliated with the parish, I wanna say, for 70 years.”
Singleton says more than 5,000 people attended this year’s festival.
