St. Peter’s by the Sea holds second line for students
The group down at St. Peter’s by the Sea Church held a Mardi Gras Celebration with students across the Coast.
Sixteen students from the church’s ‘Casting Nets After School Program’ and 31 students from Coast Episcopal School gathered at St. Peter’s where they marched in a second line filled with music and dance.
They completed the line at Salute Restaurant where they held a Mardi Gras party filled with king cake and fun.
Reverend Patrick Sanders says he loved seeing all the people stop and watch the students parade down the street. “It was awesome. I didn’t expect that. So people came out of Shaggy’s and people pulled over and were taking pictures and videos and that’s cool and that’s sort of the point of the tradition of the second line is for us to join in joy which is really what St. Peter’s by the Sea is all about. So, that was a really cool unexpected byproduct.”
During the party, Reverend Sanders gave out awards to the students for their shoe-box floats.
