St. Peter’s by the Sea Displays Quilt for World AIDS Day

Every day, 14,000 people contract H.I.V. That’s ten people per minute. Monday was World A.I.D.S. Day.

This week, St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Gulfport is displaying a panel of the quilt for direct services for people with A.I.D.S. This is one of thousands of panels displayed around the country. The quilt in its entirety pays homage to more than 91,000 people who have died of A.I.D.S. worldwide.

Reverend Melanie Lemburg, Rector at St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, says, “The quilt, each of the different portions on the quilt are memorials for people who have died of A.I.D.S. and we will pray for people who are H.I.V. positive, people who live with A.I.D.S., for the organizations who care for them and help them, and we’ll pray for the needs of the world.”

The Episcopal church will hold a service Monday night and will display the quilt panel through Thursday.
