St. Patrick’s Day Parade rolls through Biloxi

Many revelers gathered on Biloxi’s Main Street Saturday to show their St. Patrick’s Day Spirit.

WXXV’s Ethan Krauss caught up with a couple paradegoers to see what the hype was about for the Hibernia Marching Society’s annual parade.

It was green as far as the eye could see. Streets packed with paradegoers and while some were just in for the prizes. “You can get stuff like stuffed animals and toys and all kinds of stuff.”

Others had traveled far to support their families. Larisa Campbell said, “My husband and daughter are with Hub City Highlanders this year and it’s my daughter’s first parade. She’s playing the bass drum, my husband’s a bagpiper. The rest of the band drove down from Hattiesburg.”

Local groups, military, and local law enforcement all came out to participate in the parade, providing a day of family fun for every generation. Lee and Chris Gober said, “I just like how everyone comes together as a family. You see multi-generations, participating in the parade, as well as watching the parade. They bring their grandchildren and encourage their grandchildren and it’s just a good family event.”

When it was all said and done, families were left happy and will surely be back next year. “We love it, we try to come every year. Oh yeah keep doing it, we love it.”

There were several other communities in South Mississippi who held St. Patrick’s Day celebrations over the weekend, including Waveland, Pass Christian, Long Beach, Ocean Springs, and Pascagoula.
