St. Patrick High Boys’ Basketball Team Invited to Hawaii

St. Patrick High School’s boys’ varsity basketball team has been dominating their competition on the Gulf Coast, but next week, they’ve been invited to hang ten in Hawaii, and hope to continue their winning ways.

In June, the Fighting Irish were invited to Christmas Invitational in Maui, and after months of fundraising, they are finally ready for the trip. The team has seven seniors who have been playing together since the 7th grade and are undefeated so far in this year’s season. While the trip won’t count toward their current record, they are excited for the chance to play teams from around country and the world.

Keith Robinson, Head Coach of the Fighting Irish team, says, “We found out about this tournament through various sources and actually the Catholic diocese in Hawaii gave us the information to get in it and we were invited and we took advantage of doing that and we’re looking forward to traveling and playing, you know, going to see other places, playing the competition, two teams from Canada, couple of teams from the State of Washington, Oregon, and California, and then of course the Hawaiian teams.”

The team is leaving a litter early to make sure they can see the sights, including a trip to Pearl Harbor.
