St. Patrick Boys team remains undefeated after shutting out Long Beach 7-0. Co-Captain Michael Baty had four goals on the night.
The Long Beach Bearcats hosted the St. Patrick Fighting Irish for a Tuesday night showdown. The Fighting Irish came in undefeated while the Bearcats were looking for their first win.
It didn’t take long for the Irish to set the tone as the throw-in by Cameron Messer gets touched by Maroon and ricochets into the goal, 1-0 Irish. Soon after, Messer launches one towards the goal and it lands right in front of Payton Taylor for goal number two of the night, now 2-0 Irish.
Staying in the first half, senior captain Michael Baty set up for a penalty kick and capitalizes on the opportunity with a shot towards the left side of goal, Irish leading 3-0. This wouldn’t be the only time Baty is mentioned. After the penalty kick, Baty went on to score three more goals for the Irish accounting for over half of the total points scored.
They weren’t the only ones getting in on the action. Junior Payton Taylor pursued the goal bringing the goalie out of the net and dribbling past him sends a rocket in the bottom left corner to seal the victory.
The Fighting Irish remains undefeated after this one mercy ruling Long Beach with a final score of 7-0! St. Patrick will host Gulfport Thursday night at 7, while Long Beach will head to Pass Christian.
