St. Martin Upper Elementary hosts Book Club debate
At St. Martin Upper Elementary students and their families gathered for the annual Book Club Debate.
Students spent the evening trying to convince one another that their book was best.
Book club members meet once a week and have been preparing for the debate since September after reading multiple books and writing a critique of their favorite.
Tonight was the final, where 31 students each defended their best book selection and tried to convince their opposition and the audience to give it a read.
What seems like extra homework for some students is enjoyable for these bookworms as they have a passion for reading.
The debate also prepares these fourth and fifth graders for middle school. For many of the students tonight, this was their first time presenting in front of an audience.
