St. James Catholic School celebrates Catholic Schools Week with special Mass

In honor of Catholic Schools Week, St. James Catholic School hosted a special Mass celebration today.

All parents and grandparents were invited.

St. James Catholic School organized special events all week and wrapped up Catholic Schools Week with the celebration.

Bishop Louis Kihneman spoke and led the special Mass. Bishop Kihneman guides the Catholic community in South Mississippi.

This was his eighth year at each of the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Biloxi. “Very special week this week, it’s Catholic Schools Week throughout the entire Diocese of Biloxi. It’s wonderful to be here at St. James Parish and school to complete the week with our children. We had masses all over the dioceses this week and many, many different celebrations with our parents and grandparents and families and of course all of the children and youth which is wonderful.”

“It’s been a wonderful eight years as bishop to be able to visit all of the schools each year. A chance to visit all of the classes to also have a chance to share with them the love of Jesus Christ and his church with each of the classes. It’s been a very special moment. We are now up to 4,200 children throughout the Dioceses of Biloxi that are in Catholic education.”

After the Mass concluded, a reception was held inside the gym with donuts and refreshments to celebrate the school community.
