SRHS pension plan supplemental fairness hearing

Hundreds of Singing River Health System retirees are still fighting for the money promised in a pension plan that failed.
A supplemental fairness hearing surrounding the SRHS pension plan case is moving forward in court high right now. A report regarding the status of the plan was issued to the court at the federal court house in Gulfport today.
Attorneys involved are trying to get a proposed settlement approved aimed to increase the funding of the plan. The settlement requires Singing River Health Systems to make all contributions to the plan missed between 2008 and 2014.
News 25 caught up with a former SRHS employee who was in court following the fight for justice in the case. Singing River Hospital Retiree Delores Gowder said, “Your bills come around every month. They don’t take ‘well, I’m sorry, you don’t get your pension.’ Or you don’t get this. You have to pay, pay everything or you could be living on the street, but I firmly believe everything is going to work out for us. I really do.”
Court officials are expected to come to an end result this week that will decide whether the settlement will be approved.
