SRHS celebrates 1000th robotic surgery
Singing River Health System is celebrating a new milestone in the world of surgery.
Singing River Pascagoula has now completed its 1000th robotic surgery.
The Da Vinci System translate a surgeon’s hand movements at a console in real time, bending and rotating the robotic arms and instruments while performing the procedure.
This still leaves the surgeon in full control.
The Da Vinci Surgical System allows for a minimal invasive approach to complex surgeries like cardiac, urologic, gynecologic, pediatric, and general surgery easier thanks to the Da Vinci’s robotic arms.
Jeremy Simpler, the general surgeon behind this feat, shares the major benefits of robotics in surgery.
“Basically it’s allowed us to do operations that we would normally be doing with big incisions and keeping, having to keep patients in for days on in, we’re able to get them home you know much sooner, back to work sooner and it’s really revolutionized how we take care of people.”
