Spring Break Clean-Up

Crews continue to sweep and clean up the roadways and beaches in Biloxi after the large turnout for spring break weekend.
An extra 100 trash drums were placed along the beach near the coliseum…but garbage still lingered on the roads.
Crews with the Harrison County Sand Beach Authority are battling strong winds along the beach…making it harder to contain the trash.
Authorities tell News 25 this amount of trash was expected considering the estimated 60-thousand guests on the gulf coast…but one huge safety concern was glass bottles.

“Unfortunately when you have that many people it’s just going to be part of the event you now you’re going to have trash…the main thing is bottles..trying to get the bottles all up before we start sweeping everything up cuz we don’t want to get no bottles broken on the beach so once we get all the bottles picked up we’ll take the sweepers and then our guys will pick up.”
– Dennis D’Aquin Harrison County Sand Beach Superintendent

You can expect to see crews picking up trash from Edgewater Mall to Porter Avenue in Biloxi for the next few days.
