Spreading the Love: Valentine’s Day Bakery and Florist Sales

Love is in the air today and your local bakery and flower shops were busy early this morning making sure everyone’s Valentine’s Day was the perfect one.
Quality Bakery in Gulfport smelled of delicious treats as staff worked on making heart cookies, strawberries dipped in chocolate and even king cake. Over at the Lemon Tree and Adams Flower Shop, dozens of red roses were the hit of the day.
LeeLee Lebatard with Quality Bakery said, “We have our heart cookies. It’s an old fashioned butter cookie. We have strawberry cream cheese king cakes. We have chocolate covered strawberries. We have the petite fours.”
Chris Owen with Lemon Tree and Adams Flower Shop said, “You can always tell there’s love in the air. The more love, the bigger the arrangement gets.”
Both shop owners tell News 25 they sold a lot less traditional items this Valentine’s Day. Some customers preferred tropical flowers over the roses and king cakes over the chocolate treats for their significant other.
