Special Olympics rescheduled

Due to Saturday’s expected storms, the Special Olympic Games that were supposed to take place Saturday are rescheduled.
The games will begin on Saturday, April 8th at NASA Stennis Space Center in Hancock County. The Special Olympics is something athletes with disabilities look forward to all year long and plenty are enrolled to participate.
Organizers tell News 25 now that the games are postponed, there’s an even bigger need for volunteers. Paul Foerman with NASA Office of Communications said, “We expect the same number of athletes. We have about 150 who have registered to be part of the games, but what our big concern is are the volunteers. It takes a host of volunteers to pull off this event. With us having to postpone it, we’re hoping that we still have the same number of volunteers that we had before.”
These volunteers would be responsible for escorting the athletes during the competition. You can sign up to volunteer on the Special Olympics website or through their Facebook.
