Special Olympics opening ceremony at Keesler Air Force Base
Once the Special Olympics Torch made it to the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, it was met with an energetic crowd.
The base is filled with Special Olympic athletes from all over Mississippi. The competitors moved in today and started preparing for the opening ceremony.
Things kicked off with the Parade of Athletes, all of which had their game face on.
Senior Airman Holly Cook says it’s a lot of hard work getting an event like this off the ground, but seeing the excitement is worth it. “We take community to heart here. Where it’s interacting with the local community or down here on the Gulf Coast or whether it’s the whole entire Mississippi community. We really love interacting with them. We really look forward to this every single year.”
