Special election set for June 18 in Biloxi to fill Ward 4 seat

The Biloxi City Council has scheduled a special election for Tuesday, June 18 for Ward 4 residents.
The special election will be to fill the unexpired term of Ward 4 Councilmember Robert Deming III who resigned Tuesday evening.
Here is the list of important dates for Ward 4 residents and candidates.
- May 7, 2024 Special Election Date set by City Council for June 18, 2024
- May 8, 2024 Candidates may file petitions and qualifying statements
- May 17, 2024 Voter Registration Deadline to be eligible to vote in the June 18 Special Election
- May 29, 2024 Deadline for candidates to qualify for Special Election
- June 8, 2024 City Clerk’s Office open from 8 a.m. noon for Absentee Voting
- June 15, 2024 City Clerk’s Office open from 8 a.m. noon for Absentee Voting
- June 18, 2024 SPECIAL ELECTION DAY WARD 4 polls open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Margaret Sherry Library & Fire Station Complex 2139 Popp’s Ferry Road
- June 25, 2024 Absentee Ballots returned by mail receipt deadline, 5 p.m. Absentee Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day.
- July 9, 2024 SPECIAL ELECTION RUNOFF WARD 4 (If necessary)
Those interested in qualifying as candidates for Ward 4 must be a registered elector of Ward 4, file a Qualifying Statement of Intent, and secure a petition of the signatures and names of at least 50 registered electors in Ward 4. Petitions are available on the Secretary of State’s website, sos.ms.gov; Municipal Clerk’s office, 140 Lameuse St., 2nd floor; or by email request at sthacker@biloxi.ms.us. The deadline to submit a petition to qualify for the special election is 5 p.m. on May 29.
To vote in the Ward 4 Special Election, you must be a registered voter. The voting location will be at the Margaret Sherry Library & Fire Station (Station No. 6) Complex, 2139 Popp’s Ferry Road.
