Spay/Neuter special for Pitbulls at SNIP

February is ‘National Spay and Neuter Awareness Month.’ One local business wants you to show them your pitties.

The Spay Neuter Impact Project, or SNIP, in Jackson County is holding a special on Pitbulls this month.

SNIP Owner Dr. Meg Sutton says shelters are full of Pitbulls in need of homes and this special is to help prevent more of the breed from entering the system.

Last month, the clinic reached 1,000 surgeries and they couldn’t have done it without the community’s support. “All of our specials are funded through donations only. We don’t have grant money. We call it the “Fix it Fund” and after this special we’re going to need to replenish the fund so we can keep doing things like this. Silas is one of the lucky ones that didn’t have to end up in the shelter. He was a backyard breeding dog and one of the reasons we have so many Pitbulls in shelters. Spay and neuter is the answer. We can’t adopt our way out of this problem.”

Silas will be up for adoption in two months through Just Cause Rescue.
