Space Day at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center

Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is a place that inspires children, families, and communities through the arts and interactive experiences.

Today, a special Space Day was held to continue the educational fun.

Kids of all ages gathered together for Space Day at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center to learn and explore our universe. Kids were able to enjoy several hands-on interactive activities including a rocket launcher, galaxy slime, astronaut training course, and hide and seek moon. Lynn Meadows Executive Director Cindy DeFrances said, “Here at the museum anytime we can find a way to teach children just anything, it doesn’t matter whether it’s about space or art or technology or whatever and we can sneak it in without them knowing, we feel like we have done a really good job.”

Each week, Lynn Meadows tries to switch up their activities to gives kids something different to look forward too. All of the exhibits at the museum serve as a catalyst for exploration, discovery, and the entire facility is a playground for the mind. “Just trying to give kids an extra activity to do when they are at the museum. So, in addition to going and experimenting and playing in our exhibits. They also get to do extra activities that will help be creative and get their minds stimulated.”

Eva Peelekanos, a museumgoer, enjoyed being able to get her hands dirty playing in the galaxy slime. “Moon dust and slime, you can mix it up together and it is really fun. You can take it home too.”

The museum’s goal is to continue to grow and improve by adding and enhancing exhibits.
