Ocean Springs School District, South MS Community College remember Nolan Wells

Tributes continue to pour in as people remember Nolan Wells.

Ocean Springs School District issued a statement saying the entire Greyhound community is shocked and heartbroken by the loss of Nolan Wells.

Nolan was a 2025 graduate of Ocean Springs High School and a multisport athlete.

The school district says Nolan was known for his kindness, genuine personality, and a smile that could light up a room.

Ocean Springs Head Football Coach Jake Bramlett said, “We are devastated by Nolan’s passing. He was the kind of son, teammate, friend, and student that every coach hopes to have in a program. Nolan was so much more than an outstanding football player. He carried himself with humility, treated others with respect, worked hard, and led by example. His character spoke louder than his accomplishments, and he was loved deeply by his teammates and coaches. Our football family is grieving alongside Nolan’s parents, family, friends, classmates, teammates, and all who loved him.”

Ocean Springs High Principal Dr. Jacob Dykes said, “Nolan was a remarkable student, teammate, and brother. He will be remembered as an extremely kind and hardworking young man who left a lasting impression on his teachers, coaches, teammates, and community. Our thoughts are with his family and the many people he made a lasting impact on around him.”

The president of the college Nolan Wells attended has released a statement.

Dr. J Steven Bishop of Southwest Mississippi Community College says they remember Nolan as a well-respected man who is popular among his friends and the college’s faculty. He says the university continues to send its prayers to his family.

Professional counselors will be on hand for Wells’ teammates and friends on campus this week as they navigate this situation.

After his high school playing days at Ocean Springs, Nolan joined the SMCC football team as a wide receiver.
