Southern Miss sweeps C-USA baseball awards

If you weren’t already excited for Southern Miss baseball season, the Conference USA pre-season awards will certainly get you there.
Coming off their regular season league crown in 2017, the Golden Eagles come back locked and loaded for 2018.
Today, the 12 CUSA coaches voted USM as the favorite to repeat as conference champions, receiving 11 of those 12 possible votes with one going to Rice.
As for the individual awards, the Black and Gold have swept player and pitcher of the year with Matt Wallner and Nick Sandlin taking home those honors respectively.
Joining them on the all-conference team is senior outfielder Mason Irby, making Southern Miss one of three schools, in addition to Rice and Florida Atlantic, with three players on the squad.
