Southern Miss staying the course after loss at Alabama
No matter what happens the rest of the season for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, they won’t play a more challenging opponent than they did on Saturday.
Top ranked Alabama as good as advertised, taking down USM 63-14 in its last non-conference game of the regular season.
Ironically, those 14 points are the second most the Black and Gold have scored all season as freshman quarterback Ty Keyes continues to make promising strides.
The final score is obviously not the desired result, but for first year Head Coach Will Hall, it’s more about the journey than the destination. “Like we said after the game, we’re not ready as a program yet to go into that environment and win a game yet. But what we were ready to do is to go in there and spill everything we had, and that’s what we did, and that’s what we could control. We are building towards getting back to getting in that arena and having a chance to compete and win and getting back to what this program is used to doing. And we’re growing every day, and we’re sticking to our plan, and we feel good about where we’re headed.”
Southern Miss and Rice kick things off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday from Houston.
