Southern Miss National Signing Day

Southern Miss signing five more on National Signing Day yesterday, increasing the grand total to 27 players for the class of 2023.

Four of them hailing from the Magnolia State and three of them joining the defensive back room.

Those being Miles Jones, Cameron Mackey, Wildrekus Johnson, Justyn Reid, and Sentario Willis.

Head Coach Will Hall says they also signed two more transfer portal guys, one of those being George County alum Dylan Lawrence, a safety with two years of eligibility remaining from Mississippi State.

Coach Hall said, “I’m just proud of how we’ve built this program. I really am, man. Like we were going through it this morning looking at the older kids in each room coupled with the younger kids we’re bringing in and I just really think we’ve set this program up to do some great things over the next few years with these three recruiting classes we stacked on top of each other. But we’re excited about Dylan, man. I think he brings a lot of length and tenacity and shoot, man, he’s from George County. You know what I mean. He’s a freaking tough guy, so excited to have him. ”

Former George County teammate M.J. Daniels also part of that signing day class as an Ole Miss transfer. In total, eight Division I transfers.

Ole Miss wraps things up with 15 total, one five-star, six four-stars, and eight three-stars good for the 27th ranked class, according to 24/7 Sports.

Mississippi State coming in two spots head with the 25th ranked class, composed of 25 total, four four-stars and 22 three-stars.

At the JUCO level, MGCCC getting a 21-player haul, featuring five players from the six coastal counties.

Pearl River locking up 27, 11 of them hailing from the Coast. Wildcats also sending a pair to the DI ranks, Antonio Gayden to Jackson State and NJCAA Second Team All American Bryan Whitehead II to Liberty.
