Southern Miss Men’s basketball team defeats previously undefeated #19 James Madison University
This past Saturday, the Southern Miss men’s basketball team rolled out the welcome mat for the undefeated, ranked 19th James Madison University program, and this match-up was nothing short of electric.
USM’s Austin Crowley had the first six points to himself, but now it’s Picayune’s very own Mo Arnold in 3 point range and he absolutely drains it giving the Eagles a big boost.
Mo Arnold back with the ball now, and he passes it to Donovan Ivory, who gets around and hands it over to Victor Hart and he slams that thing for two, giving the Golden Eagles their biggest lead yet in the game.
Now in the second half, Crowley breaks up a Duke pass and Andre Curbelo brings it down court. He locates Cobie Montgomery, steps back and it’s absolutely nothing but net.
Andre Curbelo again with the ball, and his pass gets denied but he stays with it and dribbles around and finds Cobie Montgomery this time under the rim, and it’s another slam dunk for the Golden Eagles.
Southern Miss would go on to win this game with a final score of 81 to 71. This historic win was the third ranked victory in Hattiesburg and the latest since ranked 22 UCF fell to Southern Miss in 2011.
Congratulations, Golden Eagles!
