Southern Miss football gearing up for New Orleans Bowl appearance

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WXXV) — Bowl season rolls on all across college football, including for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

USM has reached postseason play for the first time since 2022. The Golden Eagles will take on Western Kentucky in the 2025 New Orleans Bowl on December 23rd at 4:30pm at Caesars Superdome.

The Hilltoppers bring an electric offense to the game, while Southern Miss has bounced back in the biggest way this season, putting together a 7-5 record just one year after finishing among the worst teams in the nation at 1-11. It will also be the first game for newly-named head coach Blake Anderson.

The Golden Eagles are 4-1 all-time in the New Orleans Bowl, with the most-recent win coming in 2016 over the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns.
