Southern Miss boasts first Beckman Scholars in the state

Mississippi Gulf Coast (WXXV)- Southern Miss is boasting the first Beckman Scholars in the state.

Ashe Davis of Ocean Springs and Noah Williamson of Hattiesburg are the recipients.

A Beckman Scholar receives a place in one of the most prestigious undergraduate research programs in the STEM disciplines.

Davis’ project investigates suitability of certain protein degradation methods to treat Parkinson’s Disease.

Williamson’s research focuses on the Florida Harvester Ant and their vital role in seed dispersal.
