Southern Miss Basketball Media Day
Shortly after Doc Sadler’s arrival in Hattiesburg, things went very south for the Southern Miss men’s basketball program. For the first time this season, the third year head man gets to coach his team without the dark cloud of an NCAA investigation looming over his head.
Today was media day at USM, a fresh start for Sadler and company coming off an 8-18 season. Also in the rearview mirror is a pair of back-to-back self-imposed post-season bans, stemming from Donnie Tyndall’s tenure in the Hub City.
It was a low point for the Black and Gold who rose above the adversity by leaning on each other. “It’s not something that I’m ever going to forget about, but at the same time I think you get to choose how you remember things. As I said, I don’t know that I could have gotten through the last two years without the support and the effort and the character of the players,” said Sadler.
The Golden Eagles hit the court for the first time a week from tomorrow for an exhibition game against Mississippi College at Reed Green Coliseum. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
