Southern Miss baseball’s Danny Lynch has Senior Day for the ages
In what was perhaps his last game at Pete Taylor Park, USM third baseman Danny Lynch made sure it was a game to remember.
In the bottom of the first, the senior hit a game-tying grand slam on Senior Day, scoring three other seniors to make it 4-4.
In the bottom of the fifth, Lynch said ‘Go DJ’ once again, another grand slam. This one putting the Golden Eagles on top 9-8 en route to an 11-9 win.
Those eight RBI tying him for the USM single-game record.
With Saturday’s dramatic win over Louisiana, Southern Miss finishing the regular season with an overall mark of 37-16, 22-8 in Sun Belt play.
USM has now won 15 out of its last 16 games and enters the Sun Belt Tournament as the number two seed behind Coastal Carolina.
The Golden Eagles jumping all the way up to number 16 in the final regular season poll, but still projected as a two-seed in the Tuscaloosa Regional, according to D1 Baseball.
