Southern Miss alum Nick Mullens fired up over signing with Eagles

USM’s all time leader in passing yards and touchdowns tells News 25 he’s fired up about his new home.

On Monday, Southern Miss alum Nick Mullens agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles where he’ll play backup to Jalen Hurts alongside veteran Joe Flacco.

After spending his first four years with the San Francisco 49ers organization, Mullens reunites with former USM wideout Quez Watkins who was a redshirt freshman when Mullens was a senior.

Through his first 16 NFL starts, Mullens has more than 4,400 passing yards, second only to former MVP and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.

The 26-year-old Mullens says “I’m fired up to have another opportunity in the NFL with the Eagles, a place with great history and great fans. I’m excited for the new coaching staff and ready to get to work for my fifth year in the NFL.”

Mullens had elbow surgery this winter.
