Southern Girl Cookies opening shop in Waveland
It’s been a long-time coming for one Gulf Coast baker, Southern Girl Cookies is opening a brick-and-mortar store four years after Kimberly Marquar started baking in her home.
She’s made plenty of custom cookies for businesses, weddings, and parties, fashioning these sweet treats into memorable creations.
She’s just one of many startups taking the leap now that the worst of COVID is behind us and she says the pandemic hasn’t hindered her progress.
Kimberly gave News 25 a tour of her new shop, which she’s putting the finishing touches on. “Here is just a few things I’ve done, a few businesses I’ve worked with. I made some awesome cookies and sent them to NASA in Houston. On my grand opening I’ll have some paint-your-own cookies. A lot of the kids enjoy this. It’s a lot of fun — of course it’s all edible. Here’s a sneak peek; of course, I’ll have a lot more here on Saturday.”
The store is located at 314 Highway 90 in Waveland in the two-story building behind Goodwill and Planet Fitness.
