Southern Coast Riders Sleeping Bag Run Harrison County
Last weekend in Gulfport, a local motorcycle group teamed up with “Feed My Sheep” in an effort to make the upcoming winter a little bit warmer for a population in our community that often goes un-noticed.
Motorcycles and people lined up outside of feed my sheep in Gulfport as the Sourthern Coast Riders held their annual sleeping bag run, just in time to provide some much needed warmth and protection for the homeless as winter quickly approaches. This yearly event is held in honor of Cheryl Griffin, a former member of the motorcycle club who tragically passed away prior to the first sleeping bag run.
“Southern Coast Riders, we do a lot of charitable events throughout the year, this is our biggest event that we put on and it’s our way of giving back, showing that we care about South Mississippi.”

Alongside the Southern Coast Riders… Asgard Motorcycle Club, the American Legion, ramp it up for vets, and many other groups are a part of the effort to help out the homeless people in the area.
“We get blessed every year by these folks, they are just amazing, people call me ahead of time. They come by and see me and they say are they gonna do it again this year? We really need sleeping bags. We’ve got more and more homeless people coming out and coming to the coast.”

“With the homeless population on the Gulf Coast rising every year, donations like the one made by this motorcycle group ensure that the shelves you see behind me. Stay full year round.”
“We are pretty much a family and giving back to the community is just one of the blessings that we can pass on because we’ve been blessed. So everything we do, we do to have fun, and this we do to help out because people need it.”
