Southeastern Regional Equipment Operators ‘Roadeo’
MDOT put on a friendly competition with an emphasis on workplace safety this morning in Biloxi.
The Southeastern Regional Equipment Operators ‘Roadeo’ had competitors from nine different states show off their skills to the public by operating and maneuvering dump trucks, backhoes and tractors on a closed course.
MDOT Chief Engineer James Williams says the event helps equipment operators enhance their safety skills for working along busy roadways. “Our folks are in harm’s way. They’re out there sometimes within feet, if not inches, of the traveling public and that creates a lot of danger.”
Competitors will find out how they fared today at an awards ceremony later this evening.
