High school football south state preview: Poplarville Hornets
Head coach Jay Beech and his players were able to pick up a double-digit win in round three of the playoffs after two separate 1 point wins in rounds one and two.
The Hornets will hit the road for south state to take on a 12-1 Forest Bearcats team that is led by an incredible defense. Head coach Beech and 4-star athlete Ty Keys explained what has to happen for Poplarville to find the win column and why playing on the road is being used as motivation.
“Well we just have to execute at a high level,” Poplarville head coach Jay Beech said. “We have to have all 11 on the field playing with a lot of determination, a lot of effort and a lot of heart. If we can somehow get that on Friday night we will have a good chance to win.”
“Last year south state was away and I kind of want that,” Poplarville running back Ty Keys said. “I want that. I want it back because last year we didn’t get it obviously but man I am so excited to be back with these boys. It is very exciting. We worked for it so I am so proud of these boys. We have come a long way.”
