South Mississippians prepare for minimal impacts from Tropical Storm Bertha

Tropical Storm Bertha is moving past our area with landfall expected in Coastal Louisiana this afternoon.

This morning, South Mississippians in low lying areas continued to fill sandbags at sites open across the six southern counties.

A few people filed into stores like Lowe’s to stock up on storm essentials like flashlights, batteries, tarps, generators and other emergency supplies, even though our impacts from Bertha have been minimal.

Emergency officials across the Coast have reiterated this week that while this storm’s impacts have been extremely minor, this is a good time to test your emergency preparedness plans and make sure your storm kits are up to date.
