A Pascagoula High School teacher added a crown to her achievements after winning the Miss Mississippi Senior America competition in Picayune.

Dr. Cherie Bowe, the choral director at PHS, competed against women from across the state in evening gown, philosophy of life, interview and talent.

Bowe will represent the state in Atlantic City in October at the national competition. She said she decided to enter the competition because of the pageant’s mission statement of emphasizing and honoring women who have reached the ‘Age of Elegance.’

The choral director is an eight-time Grammy nominee for Music Educator of the Year.
