South Mississippi All-Star Showcase starts Wednesday at Biloxi High
The high school basketball season has been over for more than two months, but for the next two days, the best players from the Gulf Coast will lace it up one more time at Biloxi High School.
Tomorrow night marks the start of the sixth annual South Mississippi All-Star Showcase, created by Indians Head Coach Seber Windham and St. Martin head man Charlie Pavlus.
Today, they led practice for one of the underclassmen teams, set to take the court on Thursday. A lot of pride on the line for these future stars of the hardwood who get to wear their own jerseys against the best of the best. “In the underclassmen deal, it’s their time. It’s their time to get out there and make a name for themselves and their school. And Coach Windham hit on it, every time you step on that floor you’re representing your school. So whether you’re coming from Gulfport, Long Beach, St. Patrick, that’s the jersey you’re going to wear,” said Coach Pavlus.
St. Martin Shooting Guard Jariyon Wilkens said, “Just play and have fun, that’s what we came here to do, but I’m also scouting to use in our game against them.”
Biloxi Shooting Guard Jordan Montgomery said, “It’s going to feel good to have home court, a place that I’m comfortable playing in the all-star game. Home crowd, I’m just going to come out here and have fun.”
Senior girls and guys will tip things off tomorrow at 6 p.m. with tickets going for $6.
