Unemployment assistance is now available in four South Mississippi counties for people impacted by the June floods.

The benefits extend to eligible workers and self-employed people in Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, and Stone counties.

To be eligible for the benefits, you must prove that you lost work or could not work because of the storms.

Applications are available through the Mississippi Department of Employment Security website. The deadline to apply is October 2.
