Sound Heritage Exhibit at the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum
Starting tomorrow, head over to the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum to check out a wonderful art exhibit.
Ocean Springs artist William Colgin will have his work on display which is titled ‘Sound Heritage.’ Colgin says the project involved taking pictures of shrimpers and shrimp processors across the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida.
The subjects pictured are all part of the American Shrimp Processors Association and part of a difficult way of life handed down from generation to generation.
There will also be a free showing of the exhibit tomorrow as light snacks and beverages will be provided. Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum Coordinator Corey Christy said, “This exhibit was supposed to happen a year ago. Due to the climate of COVID and everything, we had to push that back. We feel like we can provide a safe environment now. It’s been great to have people back at the museum, seeing exhibitions, and have this new work up for the public.”
The exhibit will be located on the third flood of the museum through June 30th. Regular visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
