SoSo Strong Gala and Golf Tournament
The SoSo Strong Pediatric Cancer Foundation in honor of the late Sophia Myers hosted its inaugural ‘Because Kids Should Live’ Golf and Gala which started today.
The foundation is raising money to help fund research necessary to find a cure for DIPG.
The festivities kicked off with a golf tournament that was held at Shell Landing Golf Club. Tomorrow night, a gala will be held at Beau Rivage Resort and Casino.
SoSo Strong Foundation Founder Angel Myers-McIlrath says raising awareness is key in finding a cure. “Without awareness, nothing is going to change, nothing has changed in over 50 years. Sophia had the same course of treatment that Neil Armstrong’s daughter had in 1962. So if we don’t make people aware of this disease because when you learn about it you’re moved into action. So, I just believe that this is the way to our difference and we will make a difference.”
The gala kicks off tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
